How Far for Inclusion? Rain Beau's End Explores Lesbian Parenthood of Special Needs Child

Rain Beau's End

Hannah and Jules (Janelle Snow, Amanda Powell) realize the LGBTQ cliche they are: a married lesbian couple in the 90s adopting a boy named Rain Beau. But this story is more than your usual trope of obstacles against gay adoptions. Beau is diagnosed with a genetic disorder -- an extra Y chromosome -- which every doctor says predisposes a male to aggression.

Dealing with misunderstandings, behavioral issues, and their own pasts, Hannah and Jules struggle to stay together and stay true to their ideals of inclusivity. Rain Beau's End, starring Ed Asner and Sean Young, is a taut drama directed by Tracy Wren airing exclusively on the LGBTQ streaming service Lesflicks.

Bullied Takes Brutal, Unflinching Look at Evolved Peer Torment

Bullied

Bullying has been around as long as social groups have formed. And there have been arguments made that some amount of that peer pressure can "toughen up" a kid, make them stronger or more aware. But over the years, bullying has evolved beyond taking the long way to school so Skut Farkas doesn't take your lunch money leaving you to bemoan your fate among your friends; it's mutated into levels of sociopathic venality, aided and abetted by the omnipresence of social media, into a nonstop hell escapable only by suicide.

Thomas Keith's documentary, Bullied, is a hard, brutal look at the increasing pandemic of bullying, its escalating physical violence and psychological sadism, and the impact it has not only on its singular victims but the ripple effect upon their families.

Releasing on Amazon Prime this February 12, Bullied is a film that will be hard to watch. Most important films are. Which is why you should watch it.

Climate of the Hunter Hammer, Lynch Lovechild

Climate of the Hunter Trailer

Just when you think everything that can be done with vampires has been done, along comes Mickey Reece with CLIMATE OF THE HUNTER. Granted, the trailer doesn't give away a whole lot of the plot, but the overall aesthetic and palpable uneasiness oozing out of this trailer is enough to make me want to spend an evening with this film -- preferably not alone. The visuals, costuming, character interactions and special effects make CLIMATE OF THE HUNTER look as though it were a collaboration pulling the best out of both Will Hinds (aka William Hammer of Hammer Films) and David Lynch (Eraserhead).

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Greatland is the Dystopic Utopia 2020 Demands

Greatland Trailer poster

GREATLAND is the film that 2020 demanded be made.

Imagine the stated dream of every protester made manifest -- a phantasmagorical Utopia absent of genders and judgments, draped in candy-coated neon pastels, where everything is provided for free by "Mother." Where boys are married to trees, rabbits can be your children, and the Virus is the latest prevailing religion.

This is the dream of "The CHAD" made manifest, placed under the dome of THE TRUMAN SHOW and viewed through the 3D (non)binary lenses of BRAZIL and A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. It's an absolute amazeballs experience, simultaneously hysterically funny and frightening.

Check out the trailer below and prepare to be astonished. And remember: this is the dream!

This Christmas, the Most Sacred Genre of All Gets Gored: The Hallmark Movie!

Cup of Cheer

I know, you probably haven't even bought your Halloween candy yet, but you know the drill. The minute the porch light goes out and you settle in for those last few chocolate bars you mysteriously found still left over, you lose access to the television for the next two months, because Hallmark has a whole new crop of sentimental holiday romance stories sprinkled in amongst years and years worth of their older movies (which aren't a whole lot different from the new ones, you might think!), and they're going to take over your screen in a mad merry marathon until the end of December.

Well don't sweat it. There's a hiccup in the heartwarming holiday horde of ho-ho-ho, and it's coming out November 6 from Indiecan Entertainment, and it looks sappily familiar enough that you can slip it in under the radar and onto your holiday watch list.

Lucifer Faces the Devil Himself in Final Netflix Season

Lucifer Season 5

When LUCIFER was damned to cancellation after its third season, fans reacted globally with an online campaign to #SaveLucifer: and it worked. Streaming service Netflix stepped in to offer salvation to the "police procedural meets theological fantasy" series, based off the comic book series created by Neil Gaiman.

At least, for a time.

The fourth season started answering the questions raised by that season three cliffhanger, where Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) became fully aware that Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) was exactly who he always purported to be, and ended with him having to return to his place ruling Hell in order to keep Decker safe.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars returns after 4 years

During San Diego Comic Con, there was a panel to celebrate the 10th anniversary of STAR WARS: CLONE WARS.  The panel ended with one hell of a surprise: 4 years after being cancelled, CLONE WARS IS BACK!  According to Gamespot, "Fans got their first look at an older Anakin, Obi-Wan, Rex, and Ahsoka in a new SDCC trailer, which you can watch below. A total of 12 new episodes of the animated series are officially coming to Disney's upcoming streaming service."

The Bond Movie We Want To See: GoldenHair

Goldenhair

It's only a trailer -- and it's only a joke. Nevertheless, Huw Parkinson has gone viral with his video editing job that combines scenes from the James Bond franchise with audio and video of President Donald Trump and other political figures to create what would surely be a blockbuster hit of the summer: GOLDENHAIR!

Playing off current events with Korea, this trailer displays masterful technique in combining disparate audio and video, resulting in a seamless comedic enterprise. We've watched it several times already, and it leaves us both shaken and stirred.

Enjoy!

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part Trailer

Post-apocalyptic fun in the Lego Universe!  The events of Taco Tuesday have left the entire land in dire straits...but Emmet (voice by the always brilliant Chris Pratt) still seems pretty enthustiastic.

My family loved THE LEGO MOVIE, and it definitely looks like the second movie will be more of the same!  THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART is coming February 2019.

New Trailer for Wreck-It Ralph 2

Disney posted up a new trailer for November's WRECK-IT RALPH 2: RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET!  The trailer is very funny, and I really liked the first WRECK-IT RALPH.  That said, I worry a bit about all the corporate synergy here.  Disney, Marvel, Star Wars...yeah, there is plenty of room for jokes here, but hopefully it just doesn't become one big Disney love fest.  Disney has always had a bit of a cult feel to me, aand even if they are laughing at themselves, I don't need 90 minutes of being reminded how much Disney owns me.  Hopefully, I am just being cynical.

I did love the bit at the end where Ralph says the movie should have been called "Wrecks the Internet."

Ant Man and The Wasp

With Marvel's AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR tearing up the box office, the timing couldn't be more perfect for Marvel Studios to release the trailer for ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Epic Trailer for Power Rangers: Shattered Grid starring Jason David Frank

You don't often see trailers for comic series, but Boom's MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS series has been a real unique comic book experience.  To celebrate the 25th issue, and the start of the SHATTERED GRID storyarc, they released an incredible trailer starring Power Rangers icon Jason David Frank as the evil version of the original Green Ranger Tommy Oliver called Lord Drakkon.  SHATTERED GRID features the various Power Ranger teams over the years and is shaping up to be one hell of a celebration for the Power Rangers 25th Anniversary.

New Deadpool 2 trailer (NSFW!)

Fox gave us a new DEADPOOL 2 trailer today!  I loved that the trailer told us "From the studio that brough you 22 DRESSES and THE DEVIL WORE PRADA."  DEADPOOL 2 continues to have some of the most fun, ridiculous advertising.  We also find out that X-FORCE in the X-Men Cinematic Universe was originally formed by Deadpool to protect a young mutant from Cable.  Since we know X-FORCE is getting their own movie at some point, that makes me real curious how this all plays out.

DEADPOOL 2 will be in theaters May 19!

New Avengers Infinity War Trailer!

Here we go!   I absoultely love that they had Zoe Saldana (as Gamora) open the video.  Actually all the scenes showing how the Guardians interact with the Avengers are pretty great.  Lots of shots of Wakanda coming off the success of BLACK PANTHER.  And that shot of Cap fighting Thanos by himself really harkens back to INFINITY GAUNTLET #4 one the the most classic moments in comic history.

Marvel has been building up to this movie for 10 years, 18 movies, and like 10 different TV series.  My favorite comic when I started reading comics was SILVER SURFER featuring Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, so I can't possibly be more excited.

Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet Trailer

When WRECK-IT RALPH came out in 2012, I am not sure anyone realized how big it would be.  Disney managed to make a real fun homage to video games with a lot of heart to it.  It took 6 years, but we are finally getting a sequel this November.  This morning, Disney posted up a trailer for WRECK-IT RALPH 2: RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET, and we've got your first look!

Ralph Macchio and William Zabka return for Cobra Kai series on YouTube Red

From EW:

The doors of Cobra Kai have reopened in EW’s exclusive teaser trailer for the Karate Kid sequel series, named after the infamous karate dojo.

“I just don’t know why you’d ever want to bring back Cobra Kai,” Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso tells his former high school bully, William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence.

It’s been nearly 34 years since moviegoers saw these two face off at the All Valley Karate Tournament in 1984’s The Karate Kid. They met again on screen two years later with The Karate Kid Part II, and now Johnny is seeking redemption.

Deadpool 2 Trailer: NOT SAFE FOR WORK...or school...or pretty much any other public consumption, you ****s

I never expected DEADPOOL could be as good as it was, but Fox really nailed it perfectly.   The teasers and posters for DEADPOOL 2 have definitely shown that we can expect more of the absurdity of the first movie.  The newest trailer features unfinished special effects, mocking the blind, a very unexpected returning character, and a parody that Disney ain't going to be too thrilled with.

At long last, a Solo teaser!

It's seeemed a little strange to me how little we've seen of SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY considering the movie is coming out in May.  Even during the Super Bowl last night, instead of a real teaser, we got a teaser that the real teaser would be coming out the next day.  That is some INCEPTION-level logic there.

Ant-Man and Wasp teaser

With BLACK PANTHER coming in a few weeks, and AVENGERS INFINITY WAR likely going to blow the doors off of movie theaters, it's easy to forget that there is another Marvel Cinematic Universe movie coming out this year: ANT-MAN AND THE WASP.  This morning we gfnally got a trailer, which features some really clever uses of the shrinking gimmick. I don't want to spoil them, but the effects have definitely come a long way (and I thought the original was already pretty cool effects wise).

The original ANT-MAN was far more successful critically and financially than I think anyone expected, so I am actually looking forward to the sequel.  That said, it seems to be flying very under the radar.  ANT-MAN AND THE WASP will be in theaters July 6.
