A Ghost Waits Like What if Kevin Smith Made a Haunted House Movie

A Ghost Waits

Arrow Video brings to you on Blu-ray the 2020 indie film by first time director Adam Stovall. Bringing together many genre's of film from Humor to Horror, from Drama to Romance, A GHOST WAITS has it all.

The story begins with Jack traveling to his next job as a handyman and caretaker for his company's properties. Desperately phoning his friends along the way to find a place he can crash for the next few nights due to his own place being fumigated, he arrives at the house he is to be inspecting and notices all the previous tenants belongings are still there. Confused by this, he phones his boss and discovers the home has a history of renters breaking their leases suddenly and without warning -- and it is now Jack's job to inspect the house from top to bottom to find any issues with this property so it can be rented out once more.

During the inspection, Jack realizes none of his so-called friends are willing to let him stay over at their places, so he is forced to break company rules and spend the night at the rental property. This is when Jack begins to discover what is really happening inside this house: strange noises, cabinets opening by themselves, nightmares, and dissapearing pizza all plague Jack as he just tries to do his job. Then suddenly Jack comes face to face with the ghost haunting the house. He runs outside in terror only to realize he forgot his keys. He realizes he has a job to do and resolves to get it done -- but the ghost inside also has a job she is assigned to do. And this is where the movie really becomes something special.

I genuinely enjoyed this film. Watching Jack interact with the "Spectral Agent," I couldn't help but see similarities between this film and the movie CLERKS. Both were made by first time directors, both shot in black and white, and both were largely dialogue driven. If Kevin Smith would have made a movie set inside a haunted house instead of a convenience store, A GHOST WAITS would have been that film.
Viewers can also see the parallels to other popular ghost movies from the past, as the director gives a nod to the classics BEETLEJUICE, A GHOST STORY, and ultimately the Patrick Swayze hit itself, GHOST.

I will not go into the rest of the plot or give anymore spoilers for this movie, because I truly want you to watch this film for yourself and enjoy it as much as i did. If you are a fan of films like CLERKS or CHASING AMY and would like to see a horror-like spin laced between the comedy and romance, then A GHOST WAITS will not dissapoint you.
