Colleen Wing Takes Center Cage in Latest IRON FIST Promo

In the comic books, Colleen Wing is a descendent of a family of Samurai who avenged her grandfather's death with the help of Iron Fist. In the latest promo, we get to see her take down two thugs.

One of the big draws to the NETFLIX series IRON FIST will be the martial arts action. Fight choreography will be essential to it's success and even though there's no shortage of inspiration to draw from, many times fight sequences fall flat. That's not the case in the latest promotional video released for the upcoming series.

"The Final Defender Arrives" in Official IRON FIST Trailer

It's here! And it's HOT! With a little over a month before it's release (3/17) on NETFLIX, the official trailer for Marvel's IRON FIST packs a punch!

The opening sequence has Danny returning to reclaim his company, only to face some opposition from security, and he doesn't take lightly to be manhandled. While security is just doing their jobs, his instincts kick in and immediately takes them down in a heartbeat. Like brushing dust off his shoulder he easily moves past the security team.

There's enough action and mysticism in the trailer to give you the full effect of what to expect from IRON FIST. We're even treated to the activation of his chi as he destroys walls and crushes a room full of opponents with a single fiery punch to the ground.

History Notes: Legends of Tomorrow Episode 210, "The Legion of Doom"

The Black Flash, Legends of Tomorrow

Given that the focus of this episode is on the so-called Legion of Doom -- comprised of Damien Darhk (NEAL MCDONOUGH), Malcolm Merlyn (JOHN BARROWMAN) and Eobard Thawne (MATT LETSCHER) -- it's fitting that this episode's introductory narration would come from Darhk's perspective. We get to see a repeat of eight months back, when Darhk was killed by Green Arrow. The video of the events are being watched by a morose Malcolm Merlyn, live as they happen, which is when he is approached by Eobard Thawne and Darhk. We know now that the Damien Darhk we are seeing in the series is from earlier in the time stream than that moment, and he is trying to change his future. Merlyn has been taken from the present so that he might be able to change his past. And Eobard?

Well, we learn quite a bit about Eobard's motivations in all this as well.

The Secret Identity of NBC's POWERLESS is Super

Last night the new workplace comedy from NBC, POWERLESS, debuted. With much fanfare, months of anticipation, a change in direction and lots of social media presence; how did it do?

The opening was VERY comic book oriented as we see top members of the DC Pantheon interspersed with comic book versions of the main characters. And while it was brief, the post opening sequence narration by Adam West was a real treat. Much of what we witnessed had been released via social media, which hurt the show for those of us who were following along. Many of the jokes had been told a hundred times already. The less informed audience may have found more amusement in what the first half of the episode had to offer. Overall, there wasn't anything that didn't work, it was just watered down because we were already treated to much of the humor via previews.

Catching Up: The Flash Episode 311, "Dead or Alive"

Vibe vs. Gypsy in Flash 311, "Dead or Alive"

We all know that H.R. Wells (TOM CAVANAGH) came from Earth-19 because he's an author looking for inspiration. Here's three things we didn't know. One, he's been writing down all of Team Flash's adventures, casting himself as the hero. Two, he's been beaming these chapters back to his Earth, one at a time.

And three, dimensional travel on Earth-19 is a crime punishable by death.

"Dead or Alive" finds The Flash (GRANT GUSTIN) and Kid Flash (KEIYNAN LONSDALE) chasing "The Electric Gang" at high speed. Their teamwork results in them saving a busload of cheerleaders. (If they save the cheerleaders, do they save the worlds?) Wally is basking in the admiration, and Barry is happy to let him have the attention.

A Funny Look at the Wayne Security Team for NBC's POWERLESS

In just 2 days DC's first comedy, set in their expansive universe, will premiere on NBC. POWERLESS will give us a hilarious look at what's it's like to live in a world of superheroes, from a citizens perspective.

This featurette introduces us to the members of Van Wayne's (Alan Tudyk) team at Wayne Security. I suspect his interactions with the team will create a bit of a hero/villain dynamic within their workplace. The character is like a cross between Michael Scott from THE OFFICE and Lex Luthor. He's in charge, a little full of himself and has his eyes on a much bigger picture.

"Look at THAT picture...that picture's huge."

Adam West Narrates Latest Promo for NBC's POWERLESS

NBC's latest comedy, which airs Thursday February 2nd, takes place in the DC Universe where superheroes are known for their heroic deeds. Unfortunately, other than the villains, innocent bystanders tend to be the most affected by the use of super-powers.

Originally pitched as a workplace comedy centered around insurance adjusters, the theme of the show has been shifted to a team of inventors working for "Wayne Security". Their task is to find ways for the 'cowering commuters' to protect themselves when a super-battle occurs.

The latest promo has the iconic Adam West (Batman 1966), narrating. This can only lead to a small bit of hope that perhaps he'll cameo in an episode along the way. Starring Vanessa Hudgens and Alan Tudyk, POWERLESS will reference many of DC's heroes with its comedic narrative.

History Notes: Legends of Tomorrow Episode 209, "Raiders of the Lost Art"

Legends of Tomorrow Raiders of the Lost Art

So LEGENDS OF TOMORROW has moved to a new timeslot for the week. Now what am I going to do with my Thursday nights?

Ahem.

Six months ago (if such measurements can mean anything at all in a show where the characters are hopping about in time), Rip Hunter (ARTHUR DARVILL) and the Waverider were going down for the count. The team was scattered. So Rip grabbed a non-descript piece of wood from under the flooring of the timeship that even Gideon didn't know about, shut the ship's AI down, and stuck his hand directly into the power of the time drive.

End of the Innocence: CW's RIVERDALE a Subversive, Adult Spin on Comic Book Champion

Riverdale

If you were a fan of DAWSON'S CREEK, you're in luck: it's back, only under a new name with different characters. The characters may suspiciously sound and look like they come from a familiar comic book, but names and appearances are where the familiarity ends.

It's been a long summer for the teens of Riverdale, highlighted by the mysterious death of Jason Blossom (TREVOR STINES) while on a pseudo-romantic boat trip with his twin sister, Cheryl (MADELAINE PETSCH). Cheryl was found crying on the riverbank by Scout Troop leader Dilton Doiley (DANIEL YANG), but Jason's body was never recovered; and his death has an impact the entire town -- a tragedy for many, and an answered prayer for others, like Alice Cooper (MADCHEN AMICK) who tells her husband that she hopes Jason burns in hell. It's the mystery at the heart of the series, and we learn all about it through our narrator and blogger, Veronica Mars Jughead Jones (COLE SPROUSE).

Catching Up: The Flash Episode 310, "Borrowing Problems From The Future"

The Flash Episode 310, Borrowing Problems From the Future

In the weeks since Christmas, Wally (KEIYNAN LONSDALE) has been shadowing Barry (GRANT GUSTIN) as he does his Flash duties. He's learning by observing, which has led some -- like Detective Tom Patterson (GREG GRUNBERG) -- to assume that "the guy in yellow" is not so super-heroic after all. Wally overhears this but tries not to let it affect his patience.

Taking Flight: SUPERGIRL 'Lives' with Kevin Smith Ep 209

SUPERGIRL has returned with episode 2.10 titled, "Supergirl Lives" directed by Kevin Smith. After a long layoff it's time to get back to protecting the world (particularly National City) from alien threats.

The episode starts off with Supergirl chasing down a couple of low level jewel thieves. An event that really shouldn't have her racing to catch up to the van, as we've seen her run alongside The Flash. It's a sequence that's necessary to work itself into upcoming events. As she topples the van by blowing out it's rear tire, the two thugs in the back miraculously escape unharmed. As they flee the scene, Guardian appears to cut them off but is distracted by one who wields a knife; allowing the other to run in the opposite direction.

Episode Titles for IRON FIST Would Make Bruce Lee Proud

The moment of truth is upon us. According to Bleeding Cool, the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has been classifying episodes of the upcoming Netflix original series: IRON FIST.

In doing so, they've released the titles of all but 2 episodes, including the directors for each one. After giving these a look through it's been determined (by this humble writer) that they are the most badass titles since Bruce Lee gave us "Fists of Fury" and "Enter the Dragon".

Power Rangers Ninja Steel Episode 1: Return of the Prism

When POWER RANGERS: DINO SUPER CHARGE ended, I wasn't quite sure how well my kids would take it.  They love the POWER RANGERS franchise in all of its iterations, but for the most part they watch them on Netflix.  DINO CHARGE/DINO SUPER CHARGE was the first POWER RANGERS series they watched week by week as they aired.  But, when the last episode aired, Nickelodeon aired a commercial for POWER RANGERS: NINJA STEEL, and my kids were all excited about the new series.  My six-year old son and I sat down to watch the premiere as it aired, and we enjoyed it quite a bit.

"Game of Thrones" Season Six - Now Available on DVD and Blu Ray!

Game of Thrones Season 6 Blu-ray

Since its inception, Game of Thrones has become famous for pulling no punches, killing main characters, and giving us villains we love to hate.

But in season six, it became known for a different reason – feminism.

Yes, that’s right. The show that started out as a pissing contest between men vying for the throne, the show that included gratuitous on-screen rape of major female characters, and the show that gave us misogynistic villains like Joffrey Baratheon and Ramsey Bolton, has evolved into a story about women taking charge.

And I am 100% here for it.

The epic fantasy genre is notorious for its mistreatment of women. From all-male questing teams to prevalence of sexual assault, it’s a genre that’s often been a boys’ club. But that’s slowly changing.

Taking place in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, the base story of the Outsiders centers around the Farrell clan who have lived isolated on top of their mountain for generations.  Struggling to keep an uneasy truce with the townspeople below and maintain their way of life, they also struggle within themselves for power within their clan, and are put to the test when their very way of life is threatened from the outside.

In the first season we learned there is a Big Coal company that has bought rights to mine the coal rich land. But to do so, they must enlist the help of the Sherriff T. Wade Houghton (Thomas M. Wright) and the law enforcement of Blackburg to remove the Farrell’s and any others that may reside up on the mountain by whatever means possible. At the same time, the struggle for power within the clan drives some to commit murder, ending with a huge confrontation between the authorities and the clans that ended in massive bloodshed.

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, affectionately known as 'Fluffy', has a comedy special on NETFLIX called "I'm Sorry for What I Said When I Was Hungry" and, among other things, he dished out his thoughts on the Marvel vs DC debate.

During the special he discusses his experience drinking a chocolate cake shake, an injured audience member, his meeting with Arnold Shwarzenegger and the return of the 'racial gift basket'. In the segment (from his official YouTube channel), he recalls a conversation between himself and one of his kids' friends who claimed DC was better than Marvel.

Caution: Married men may squirm a bit when he discusses Green Lantern's power!
