Lucifer (TOM ELLIS) has hit a mental block. He's been trying to find a way to break Cain's curse and end his immortal life, but everything he can think of is something that Cain has already tried. The Devil isn't used to being out of ideas, and it bothers him into an unlikely sullenness that Chloe (LAUREN GERMAN) notices. However, when a murdered YA science fiction author is rumored to have written in the afterword to her latest book the cure for her writer's block, Lucifer is keenly focused on finding the killer so that he can find the stolen manuscript.
In a role reversal, Chloe is the one who becomes unfocused on the case, as the investigation takes them to the author's high school reunion, an experience the former child actress turned police detective missed out on in her youth. And since the author took all her characters from her own high school experiences, the research into the stories has filled Chloe with all the teen drama she had skipped over in her emotional development. It's up to Lucifer to rein her in so they can find the killer--and the cure for his own block.
Meanwhile, Mazikeen (LESLEY-ANN BRANDT) decides that a blind date is just the thing to make Linda (RACHAEL HARRIS) and Amenadiel (DB WOODSIDE) squirm until she wrings the truth out of them about their secret relationship. Killing two birds with one stone, she sets them up with one of the high school reunion attendees so that Lucifer can impersonate him at the event. But there's an unforeseen circumstance here. The blind date (guest star AUSTIN BASIS) may just be the killer they're looking for!
The wrap to the episode is sweeter than most have been. (No, I'm not crying! It's allergies!) And Lucifer's breakthrough hints at some interesting plot developments coming in the near future. Could there be time travel involved? Maybe...
