PIXELS, from Columbia/Sony Pictures, is one of those movies I shouldn’t like -- but because I have so much in common with the main characters in this movie, I can’t help myself.

The seed to the plot of this movie takes place in a flashback to 1982 and the National Video Game Championships. The games are videotaped and sent into space, where they are discovered by an alien race who take them as a challenge to take over there world. In doing so, they bring to life many of the original characters of the video game world of 1982 and set them upon the Earth to destroy it -- but not immediately. You see, in true videogame fashion, they give the Earth three “lives,” and if they lose them, then world is destroyed.

Enter in our heroes, who oddly enough were the ones who competed at the games in 1982. Through varying twists of fate, they become Earth’s only hope in beating these otherworldly real videogame characters.

At San Diego Comic Con, they did a 10 minute look at ABC's THE MUPPETS.  I've been a huge Muppets fan for as long as I can remember, so I was looking forward to this:

All in all, I thought it was pretty funny.  Most of the jokes landed real well.  I wasn't sure how a more adult version of THE MUPPETS would go, but if this trailer is any indication, it seems like it should work.  I loved the legalization joke!

WB posted up a new promotional picture for THE FLASH season 2, and I immediately noticed something was different.  Honestly, it took me a few minutes to figure out what, and I had to bring up a picture of the costume from season 1 (on the left) to figure it out.

THE BLACKLIST is just about my favorite network drama these days. Come to think about it, it is the only network drama I watch that is not superhero related. I will admit that pretty much all of my enjoyment of THE BLACKLIST comes from James Spader’s brilliant performance as Raymond “Red” Reddington. I’ve been a huge James Spader fan for as long as I can remember. That said, Meghan Boone and Ryan Eggold are both very good as the world’s most dysfunctional couple, Elizabeth and Tom Keen.

Summary: Kiri is mourning at Spyder-Man’s grave with Lila.  Kiri is feeling betrayed that Peter never told her that he was Spyder-Man.  Rhodey arrives to talk to them about what he found during the autopsy.  Peter’s Uncle Ben Urich was also murdered.  Rhodes is certain Peter and Ben had found out what caused Technolopolis to get sick.  Spyder-Man’s armor points them towards Wilson Disk.  Rhodes has heard rumors that tied Fisk to Arno Stark, so he goes to check it out.

The complete second season of the Syfy drama, BITTEN, is now out on DVD, allowing for some wonderful binge-watching of werewolves -- and, this season, of witches as well.

This sexy action-drama picks up with the murder of Elena's friend, who had discovered her lycanthropic secret. However, while that's touched on a little bit in this second season, it takes a back seat to the new plot, which introduces a coven of witches, led by Ruth Winterbourne (Tammy Isbell) and her daughter Paige (Tommie-Amber Pirie). One of their own, young Savannah (Kiara Glasco) has gone missing, and is being used to bring about the prophesied "Undoing" of all witches.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced that MAD MAX: FURY ROAD on Blu-Ray is on it's way!

It will be available as a BLU-RAY 3D COMBO PACK, BLU-RAY, DVD and DIGITAL HD with over 90 minutes of additional high-octane special features! The 3D combo pack will retail for $44.95.

Disney has released the first official trailer for it’s latest Pixar Animation Studios film titled: THE GOOD DINOSAUR.

The movie asks the question: “What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?” The story centers around a young Apatosaurus named Arlo who befriends the most unlikely of creatures...

Last month I read an interview with Aaron Ashmore (Warehouse 13) by Geek Girl Diva over at Entertainment Weekly. For those who aren't aware, Aaron is the identical twin of Shawn (Iceman from the X-Men franchise). The interview focused around the new Syfy show titled KILLJOYS, where he plays a bounty hunter.

I have a lot coming out this week, but not a lot jumping out at me in terms of exciting books to talk about.

Carol Burnett – comedic trailblazer, actor, singer, dancer, producer and author – has been named the 52nd recipient of SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment. Burnett will be presented the performers union's top accolade at the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®, which will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at 8 p.m. (ET), 7 p.m. (CT), 6 p.m. (MT) and 5 p.m. (PT). Over the years, I've picked up more than my share of books at science fiction conventions -- usually the only place you could find them, because they were books being promoted by their authors. And, more often than not, there was a good, evident reason why the works weren't picked up by major distributors.

In the case of David J. Pedersen's ANGST, it's the distributors who are the ones losing out.

When Kate Hood is beset by a pack of wolves while taking a weekly load of groceries to her Nan's isolated house in the woods, it's just the beginning of a very creepy adventure. Narrowly escaping the creatures, she finds Nan's house empty, save for four tapestries of exquisite craftsmanship but showing surreal tortures: a girl in chains, holding a comb, her hair shaved; a boy and girl, huddled in a cell, sweating from surrounding heat; a young maiden huddled on the floor to avoid being pricked by walls lined with needles; and a quickly scrawled message: It should have been you!

Respected director Bill Condon and beloved actor Sir Ian McKellan have a history of success, having worked together previously on GODS AND MONSTERS. So when Condon reached out to his friend about playing  Sherlock Holmes late in life, struggling to put the pieces of his unsolved final case to rest before his faculties leave him unable to do so, McKellan jumped at the chance. After all, who wouldn’t want to play Sherlock Holmes? After all, so many other English luminaries have done it: Basil Rathbone, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Caine, Christopher Plummer, and, currently on BBC television, Benedict Cumberbatch.
