CW App offers "Extended Cut" for Superman and Lois

Superman and Lois

While it's not known yet if this will be a weekly occurrence, it's a nice way to keep those streaming numbers up. Offering live viewers an opportunity to get additional content, could keep those hardcore fans watching two nights in a row. SUPERMAN AND LOIS already broke records for the CW when it comes to ratings for Live+3 (which factors in streaming numbers) with over 2.7 million viewers.

So what important scene was left out of the episode that aired on TV? It certainly wasn't a brief moment between Clark and Lana. Instead it was an important exchange between Sam Lane and Superman.

In just two episodes, we've come to realize that General Lane accepts Superman as an ally (see also: weapon). When Captain Luther fails, yet again, in acquiring kryptonite from a military complex, Superman demands to know what he's looking for. That's when General Lane comes clean about his dirty secret.

He's been stockpiling kryptonite.

Life on Cora: Oktaz Climbs

Life on Cora #3: Oktaz Climbs

The world of Cora is unlike a typical world. Instead of a sphere that orbits a sun, it is broken chunks of continents that float about a central power core that pulses with a blue light. It teems with many creatures, some of whom have not encountered each other due to the fractured state of the planet and the impassible gulfs of space between the fragments.

The series, thus far, has been a methodical process of world building, focusing on one race and how it engages with its environment before moving on to the next race, in the next issue. In this third installment of Life on Cora, "Oktaz Climbs," writer Martin Fisher and artist Mike Jimmy De Bruin introduce a race of rock creatures called the R'K'Hola who collectively make up a mountain. Their society is caste-like, with the higher ranking citizens existing higher up the mountain.

After One Day, Bad Idea Expels First Comic Shop from Program

Bad Idea

March 3, 2021 was a momentous day for comic shops around the world. Or, at least, it was for some of them. Bad Idea Comics is an upstart publisher with some interesting principles for adding value to the titles they plan to publish, one of them being that stores have to qualify to be allowed to carry their titles in the first place. Ostensibly, this gives the qualifying stores a leg-up on their competition, as the number of outlets is limited to a finite number. Yesterday saw the release of the publisher's first title, Eniac #1.

Within less than 24 hours, the first store had been expelled from the distribution network. A statement from Bad Idea was released today that read simply as follows:

Glyn in Monster Land

Glyn in Monster Land

While Kevin Philpott's Glyn in Monster Land may appear, at first glance, to be a comic for young girls, it has a story that goes deeper than its visual aesthetic. Yes, the whimsical Glyn and company, rendered by the talented pencils of Luisa Russo, seems tailor-made for the toy market, fitting right in with the Strawberry Shortcake and Monster High girls. But as with all comics, the art is only half the equation, requiring a good story to truly make it a success.

Fortunately, Glyn in Monster Land has one.

Mississippi Grind

Mississippi Grind

Mississippi Grind depicts a tale of two men on the road for a massive payday. The pair of Gerry and Curtis, two juxtaposed characters who hit it off in a Mississippi bar, are brought to life by Ben Mendelsohn and Ryan Reynolds. The star-studded duo is directed by equally talented counterparts Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, who also wrote the screenplay. Fleck and Boden rose to fame with their critically acclaimed Half Nelson, starring Ryan Gosling, and Sugar, a baseball classic. Eventually, Fleck and Boden hit the blockbusters with Captain Marvel. However, they're known to bring a refreshing perspective to the well-trodden subject matter. Where Mississippi Grind sits on the echelon of casino and gambling movies is up for debate. It can divide opinion, but there's more on bestcasinosites.net to help with the nuances.

Catching Up: The Flash Episode 701, "All's Wells That Ends Wells"

The Flash 701 All's Wells That Ends Wells

The Flash returns to The CW with its seventh season, and -- for the most part -- it's back to firing on all cylinders.

The concept of Barry being on the precipice of using up his remaining Speed Force had drawn on overly long in season six, so it was a relief that the problem finally gets a resolution in this episode, even if it did come at the sacrifice of a major character. Or... did it? We'll get to that in a little bit.

The Resonator: Miskatonic U Brings Lovecraftian Horror to Episodic Streaming

Resonator: Miskatonic U

‘Horrible beyond conception was the change which had taken place in my best friend, Crawford Tillinghast.’

With that decidedly lurid line, visionary horror icon H.P. Lovecraft opened his 1934 mini-masterwork, ‘From Beyond’, a brief tale that features a scientist--the aforementioned Crawford Tillinghast--striving to invent a machine that stimulates a person's pineal gland, allowing them to perceive alternate planes of existence, which, unsurprisingly for the founding author of cosmic horror, invokes a menagerie of creepy-crawly, squiggling creatures into our own dimension with dire and deadly consequences.

For Mountain Monsters, Day of Wrath Just Another Walk in the Woods

Mountain Monsters day of Wrath Trapper's Initials

This fifth season of Mountain Monsters has seen production dial back the drama in a big way. In fact, to some degree, they've almost over-corrected from the season where every night was three or more mysterious encounters with demons, various bigfoots, and ghostly little girls. This seventh episode contains what might have been half-an-episode of those earlier seasons for all the revelations actually emphasized.

These hearings are done without the victim present, where they are then appointed a legal guardian: Marla. Marla then presents the elderly person with the signed document, escorts them from their home to the care facility, and proceeds to liquidate all their assets.

The scheme is presented with such plausibility that I Care a Lot could be classified as a horror movie for seniors.

Bloom #1 Lays Cosmic Cornerstone for Entire Hero Tomorrow Universe

Bloom 1 Hero Tomorrow

The universe of Hero Tomorrow comics is a small but very cohesive, tightly-knit one. The hero -- Apama -- is an everyman imbued with the animal powers of a creature from myth, and since his emergence the supervillains have sprung up to oppose him -- some odd, all bizarre.

But there is one who is deeply connected to Apama's origins, yet pre-dates his arrival by nearly forty years. Regina, who first appeared in Apama, The Undiscovered Animal #5, gets her origin story with Bloom #1, coming soon to comic shops and currently funding through Kickstarter.

Set in 1969, Bloom begins with Ramsey, an auto mechanic and would-be comic book artist obsessed with the idea of his comic book villain and the arcane glyphs that came to him in a dream state while tripping in the forest -- at a location that will be quite familiar to fans already following the Apama comic.

Kinkle's Dementer Could Have Been So Much More

Dementer

Cinema, in all its forms, provides the childlike promise of escape, and even in its darker varieties film imparts a fantastical outlet from everyday pressures. Yet while most expressions in the horror genre are merely grisly vehicles of titillating mass distraction, filled with enticing, popcorn-munching, beer-swilling thrills and chills, blood and bare breasts, others are confrontations, less watched than survived, and from the silver screen nightmares of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Jacob’s Ladder to little-seen gems such as 1997’s grimy vampire-as-addict opus Habit, there is a strain of moviemaker unsatisfied with presenting a reassuring experience, preferring to let viewers interpret the work without storytelling guardrails.
