The Orville starts to come into it's own in "About a Girl" (Season 1, Episode 3 review)

THE ORVILLE continues to be a pretty divisive show.  The newest episode continues that trend.  I’ve seen reviews with titles ranging from "The Third Episode Of 'The Orville' Is A Must-Watch For 'Star Trek' Fans" to "Why ‘About a Girl’ is the The Worst Episode Yet."  Personally, I thought ‘About a Girl’ really showed what THE ORVILLE can be.

CW teases "Crisis on Earth X" Arrowverse crossover

From EW:

The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will join forces in a crossover event called “Crisis on Earth X,” which begins production today. In this year’s crossover, all of the superheroes come to town for Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris’ (Candice Patton) wedding (sounds like couples’ therapy ended up working); however, villains for Earth-X crash the festivities with a deadly agenda.

First look at "new" Misty Knight from Luke Cage Season 2

Entertainment Weekly posted a first look at the "new" Misty Knight.  At the end of Defenders, Misty gets her arm chopped off by Iron Fist's enemy Bakuto.

Marvel, as usual, is keeping details of how and when Misty gets her bionic arm under wraps, but in the comics, Misty’s bionic arm was designed by Tony Stark and Stark Industries after she lost the limb in a bombing. The arm grants her superhuman strength and a slew of other abilities involving energy blasts and gravity fields and even a nifty ability to control robots.

DUCKTALES is back...Woo-oo!

Over the last few months, I’ve been doing quite a bit of coverage of Disney’s DUCKTALES relaunch.  I have to admit, a big part of me was very concerned that I was overhyping it to the point where there was no way I could enjoy it.  On Saturday, August 12th, they aired the premiere episode, “WOO-OO!” repeating it for 24 hours straight.  Probably a bit excessive, but I am here to review the episode itself, NOT the marketing strategy.

VOLTRON Season 3: Prince Lotor Will Test Your Loyalty

VOLTRON returns tomorrow on NETFLIX and Prince Lotor takes center stage as he looks to rip the Paladins apart from the inside out.

In the trailer released by Dreamworks Animation, the Paladins scramble to recover from the loss of Shiro. Without anyone to pilot the Black Lion, they cannot form Voltron and in that regard they lack a clear leader.

In season 2, Shiro and Keith were trapped on a planet together. During that time, Shiro told Keith that if anything were to happen, Keith should lead Voltron. Being annointed team leader is different than actually leading. If you don't possess the skills or confidence, then how do you get others to follow?

Teen Titans visit a rock and roll hellscape in The Night Begins to Shine Part 1

TEEN TITANS GO gets a bad wrap from a lot of people.  Some people want it to be a lot more like the TEEN TITANS series that aired from 2003-2007.  But despite having the same voice cast, the shows are nothing alike. This is something TEEN TITANS GO is very happy to mock, which makes people further hate the show.  Instead of focusing on their time as superheroes, TEEN TITANS GO focuses on ridiculous ideas like Pig Latin being the heart of a massive conspiracy or tea being a Briish ploy to bring us back under their control.  I personally love that TEEN TITANS GO is full of pop-culture references.  You can tell the show was made by people who grew up exactly when I did.  What other cartoon would have entire episodes devoted to THE GOONIES and OREGON TRAIL?

Uncertainty Looms Above Paladins in Voltron Season 3 Teaser

With VOLTRON LEGENDARY DEFENDER seasons 1 and 2 currently available on Netflix, season 3 arrives on August 4th and we have a trailer!

In addition to that news, it was announced that fans will only need to wait TWO MONTHS before watching season 4! Which is expected to drop on Netflix in October! That being said, it appears that Dreamworks Animation has opted for shorter seasons in order to accomodate the increased frequency.

Because many people bing watch a season in just a few days, splitting up the seasons may actually benefit Dreamworks. It should extend the life of social interactions so it doesn't die out after the first month. Once fans have finished watching season 3, they can begin their excitement for season 4.

Marvel releases new Inhumans trailer at SDCC

I want to be upfront and say that I've really never had much of an interest in the Inhumans.  I do think some of the characters can be cool at times (like Karnak and Maximus), and I do like Ms Marvel and Moon Girl, though the least interesting thing about those characters is "They happen to be Inhumans."  But on a whole, I mostly skip reading comics featuring the Inhumans.  I even stopped watching Agents of SHIELD when it becomes "All Inhumans, All the time."  They just are a pale substitute for mutants, to me.  Been a huge X-Men fan since I started reading comics more than 25 years ago, and the Inhumans will just never replace them for me as a reader or watcher of superhero movies/TV shows.

Bloodlines: SyFy Releases KRYPTON Teaser Trailer

SyFy has released a teaser trailer for their mid-season series KRYPTON and it's faster than a speeding bullet. You'll want to give this several viewings to take it all in.

Which, given the fact that its only 20 seconds long should be pretty easy. But we're here to break it down for you anyways.

The trailer starts off with the destruction of Krypton, going in reverse. You see a huge city landscape (Kandor?) and a ship flying towards its destination.

Someone gets rocked with a punch that's similar to MMA's 'Superman Punch', where the assailant jumps in the air and comes down with a massive blow to the head. Fitting.
