Game of Thrones: (Spoiler) Got What He Deserved

There are obvious spoilers in this article. If you have not watched the season 5 finale of GAME OF THRONES, do not read any further.

Jon Snow is DEAD and he got what he deserved. I won't mix words here and I'll be as blunt as possible. Jon Snow is brave, kind hearted and always seeking to do the right thing. Those type of people usually die first in the Seven Kingdoms. Instead, Jon went from being a bastard to Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.

From the moment he arrived at the Wall, he has continuously stepped outside the parameters of the oath he swore when he took his vows. He's killed his brothers (they were traitors), he's had sex and he's put the needs of the Wildlings before himself. Yet when push came to shove, he always came out on top, proving himself to be an honorable man and a good leader.

This allowed him pull off one of the great upsets of the Seven Kingdoms, as he won in a very close vote to become Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Even still, you could tell very early on that he had enemies among his brothers. Every decision he made was met with conflict. It's the pains of being a leader.

You can't make everyone happy, but you should at least listen to the majority. Jon was a man of his own convictions. He did what he felt was the right thing to do, regardless of what others thought of him.

The Wall houses rapists, murderers and theives. Did we all forget that? An overwhelming majority of the men who serve the Night's Watch are evil. Serving there is a life sentence for their crimes. These are men you don't want to piss off.

And every decision that Jon Snow made, pissed them off.

The last straw was when he put the needs of the Wildlings over that of his own brothers, by going north of the wall with Stannis' ships. Bringing the Wildlings south of the Wall to settle and be safe from the White Walkers was a plan that the majority of the Night's Watch did not agree with. He knew it was an unpopular decision, he understood the ramifications of his actions.

Jon Snow put the entire Night's Watch at risk by going north of the wall to seek an alliance with the Wildlings.

Unfortunately Jon's primary ally was the frumpy Sam Tarly, who foolishly tried to keep Gilly and her child safe within the confines of the Wall. A man whose decision nearly got Gilly raped and himself killed if not for Jon's Direwolf, Ghost.

Jon Snow was kind, honorable and brave. But he had no other allies among his 'brothers'. They all viewed him as a traitor. Feel free to scroll up to the second paragraph where I mentioned what Jon himself did to traitors. Upon his return, it's possible he saw the writing on the wall. But Jon Snow is not a man who will run and hide. He held true to the honor that his adopted father, Ned Stark, had all the way up to his own demise. His final act of bravery was to send Sam, Gilly and the baby away from the Wall.

If he hadn't allowed Sam to leave...what do you suppose would've happened to them?

We've all watched the show, I don't need to tell you.

To sum up, Jon Snow had no allies and betrayed the Night's Watch. Not even Ghost showed up to defend him and he's always mysteriously popping up when needed. You don't have to like what happened, but if you thought he was untouchable, you haven't been paying attention.

Jon Snow got what he deserved.
