Social media buzz is something a lot of studios are using to drum up hype for upcoming movies. And with Snoopy's birthday coming up on Monday, August 10th, Blue Sky Studios (in association with FOX) is encouraging everyone to share their drawing of the beloved beagle with the hashtag: #DrawSnoopy. The following thumbnail was this writer's attempt:

My #DrawSnoopy attempt

In an effort to promote THE PEANUTS MOVIE, director Steve Martino shows off his artistic skills by giving a minute and a half tutorial on how to draw Snoopy. It's not a traditional tutorial in the sense that it shows you starting lines, basic circles etc., to build the foundation of the drawing. Instead you'll be watching him dive right into drawing Snoopy in ink. After trying it myself, I found the biggest struggle came with getting the head right. I didn't bother with a pencil and picked up my sharpie instead. It took me seven tries before I was comfortable drawing the rest of the picture.

While Snoopy's first appearance came on October 4th, 1950, according to a series of comic strips in 1968, Snoopy's birthday is August 10th. So grab some paper and a pen and start drawing to help commemorate Snoopy's birthday.

And don't forget to share with the hashtag: #DrawSnoopy

THE PEANUTS MOVIE hits theaters everywhere on November 6, 2015!

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved “Peanuts” gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state of the art 3D animation.  Charlie Brown, the world’s most beloved underdog, embarks upon an epic and heroic quest, while his best pal, the lovable beagle Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron.  From the imagination of Charles M. Schulz and the creators of the ICE AGE films, THE PEANUTS MOVIE will prove that every underdog has his day.
