Merry Christmas, Wonder Woman

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Jack Frost nipping at your nose. Yuletide carols being sung by a choir, and folks dressed up like...Wonder Woman?

Now that's a Christmas tradition we can get behind! In fact, some of our favorite Christmas stories involve things like Superboy and the Legion looking for the Star of Bethlehem, or Batman tracking down a thief dressed like Santa Claus. So why not put a little cosplay into your Christmas, like our Bombshell does this month. She even rescues Star Wars from the cringeworthy Christmas crossover it tried so long ago with a Star Wars holiday pose!

Get ready to hang your stockings and say your prayers, because cosplay is coming at you now, as we proudly present the...

What is your interest in cosplay?

Cosplay, for me, is a step outside of reality to represent and embody characters that have inspired me to be the person I am today! I find that in expressing my love for these characters through cosplay, I spread that love and inspiration beyond myself!

How did you get into it, and what was your first cosplay experience?

Cosplay has been in my blood for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was always seen wearing my Halloween costumes all year long. I wanted to spend as much of my free time as I could being a super hero or a princess! To truly pinpoint my first formal cosplay experience, it was an original Catwoman cosplay I did for a New York Comic Con in 2012.

What's your secret identity outside of cosplay?

When I am not wielding cosplay props I am a full-time barber, or should I say a less-fatal Sweeney Todd.

What kind of social activities do you get involved in (especially if you are able to incorporate cosplay into it, such as charity events)?

I regularly attend conventions, anything costume related, and hope to attend more local events and/or hospitals where I can incorporate my cosplay into entertaining children to brighten their environment with their favorite characters!

Do you make as much of your own costume as possible or rely on purchased materials -- and is that important overall to cosplaying?

I would have to say that I am an even mix of creation and purchase when it comes to costume materials and pieces. I think an enriching part of cosplay is to push your own abilities and talents to their limits to remain challenged and continue to exceed your own expectations. I do, however, cosplay characters where I have been lucky to purchase screen accurate pieces.

What's your favorite cosplay -- your go-to look that you just love to put on and act out?

That is the toughest question to answer! I would have to say it is a tie between Wonder Woman and Maggie Greene ( Rhee ) of The Walking Dead. Those two cosplays have given me strength in times where I felt entirely drained of it, and my connection to them far surpasses my others for that reason.
