Devil's Advocate: Lucifer Episode 304, "What Would Lucifer Do?"

What Would Lucifer Do?

As Lucifer (TOM ELLIS) works on getting back to the Devil he used to be, he's caught in flagrante delicto with a judge's wife (KELLY DOWDLE). But Lucifer being Lucifer strikes a deal with the judge (TEEN WOLF's JOHN POSEY) for what the judge really desires -- which, at his age, is a nap and to get back with his ex-wife rather than the several-years-younger yoga instructor. Lucifer is happy to oblige, but now the judge owes him a favor.

At the precinct, Detective Chloe Decker (LAUREN GERMAN) asks for more responsibilities from her CO, Lietenant Marcus Pierce (TOM WELLING). She wants to be the new union rep, and Pierce shoots down her request without explanation. But a new body has dropped, so he tells her to get on that instead. Ella (AIMEE GARCIA) oversees the meeting and thinks the body language indicates that Pierce is very into Chloe, which Chloe sincerely doubts.

Knight Moves: Gotham Episode 405, "The Blade's Path"

The Blade's Path

Ever since Butch Gilzean (DREW POWELL) was shot in the head, and we learned his true name was Cyrus Gold, fans have been waiting for him to resurrect as Solomon Grundy. Tonight, that wait is over.

As is typical in Gotham, no one is ever truly dead. Must be something in the water. That's certainly the case for Butch. He wasn't killed, but was put into a coma and kept at the hospital for six months. But space is at a premium, and if you've been there long enough, the hospital has a policy of transferring patients "upstate." Which is code for taking them by amulance to Slaughter Swamp and dumping their bodies into the water. But tonight there truly is something in the water: toxic waste, leaking from barrels that are clearly marked INDIAN HILL. (Isn't it nice of companies to plainly label their illegal dumping so it can be tracked back to them so easily?)

Pep Talk: Riverdale 202, "Nighthawks"

Riverdale 202, Nighthawks

This episode of RIVERDALE takes its name from the famous Edward Hopper painting; appropriate, since most of the action of this episode centers around Pop's Chock'lit Shop. It should be a "come together and save a landmark" kind of uplifting chapter in the series. But this is RIVERDALE, and so this is perhaps the darkest, most non-Archie-like episode yet.

History Notes: Legends of Tomorrow Episode 302, "Freakshow"

Legends of Tomorrow Freakshow

Shame on the writers of LEGENDS OF TOMORROW for this episode. The Legends team is on the hunt for anachronisms, time anomalies they created when they broke time. They've stolen technology from the Time Bureau to do this, and they decide that, while the Time Bureau tackles Level 10 anachronisms, they will clean up some of the smaller ones. They find a Level 1 with P.T. Barnum's circus, in its early days, where they discover a sabertooth tiger among the animals. Ray (BRANDON ROUTH) is ready to handle it with the new "shrink ray" he's developed, but his allergy to cats ends up enlarging it instead. It escapes, and the team needs someone who can deal directly with animals in order to subdue it. This leads Sara (CAITY LOTZ) to venture back to 1942 Zambesi to re-recruit Amaya (MAISIE RICHARDSON-SELLERS) to the team.

Catching Up: The Flash Episode 402, "Mixed Signals"

We're only two episodes into the fourth season of THE FLASH and it is already by far and away the best season since the series began. I'm giving this episode a 5 point rating just for the RISKY BUSINESS opening sequence alone.

Devil's Advocate: Lucifer, Episode 303, "Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith"

Mr and Mrs Mazikeen Smith

The main characters take something of a back seat in this episode so that we can get a focus on Mazikeen (LESLEY-ANN BRANDT). Much has been made of the fact that demon's, like Mazikeen, don't have souls, so they live in the moment. That notion gets challenged here as Maze begins to get bored with her new bounty hunting career. It's too easy, and there's no challenge. At Lucifer's usual ill-advised urging, she decides to go after harder prey -- the most elusive of fugitives -- to really give herself a good workout.

She targets Ben Rivers (CHRIS MCKENNA), on the run in Canada after reportedly killing two teenagers in cold blood. Rivers apparently runs from one wealthy woman to another, utilizing a weapon that Maze isn't used to handling: charm.

Knight Moves: Gotham Episode 404, "The Demon's Head"

Gotham 404 The Demon's Head

After having procured an ancient embalming knife at auction, Bruce Wayne (DAVID MAZOUZ) takes the knife to Dr. Niles Winthrop (DAKIN MATTHEWS) for analysis and translation of the markings on the handle. But Ra's al Ghul (ALEXANDER SIDDIG) shows up at the doctor's office, and kills him, with the doctor's grandson, Alex (BENJAMIN STOCKHAM) as a witness. Now Alex is on the run with the knife, hunted by to of al Ghul's lackeys.

Meanwhile, Edward Nygma (CORY MICHAEL SMITH), fresh out of the ice block, works feverishly to compose a riddle to draw out the Penguin (ROBIN LORD TAYLOR) in order to exact his revenge on him. He delivers these riddles through messengers in the form of absurd rap telegrams. The problem is, the riddles suck, evidence that The Riddler's brain has been decidedly damaged by the time spent frozen by Mister Freeze (NATHAN DARROW).

Pep Talk: Riverdale Episode 201, "A Kiss Before Dying"

Riverdale 201, A Kiss Before Dying

Last season's cliffhanger ending brought back to this old-timer a sense of deja vu, hearkening back to the era of DALLAS and the burning question that enveloped a nation: Who Shot J.R.? Only for this generation, the question was, "Who shot Fred Andrews?" And it being RIVERDALE, the secondary question: Why?

The second season opens with Archie (KJ APA) careening through town in his dad's truck trying desperatetly to get him to the hospital. Fred Andrews (LUKE PERRY) had been shot by a hooded gunman at Pop Tate's in what seemed to be a simple smash-and-grab robbery. Only nothing is simple in Riverdale, and when Jughead (COLE SPROUSE) learns from Pop Tate (ALVIN SANDERS) that nothing was taken from the cash register, he's certain there is an underlying motivation. But something has, in fact, gone missing: Fred's wallet, with all his information in it.

History Notes: Legends of Tomorrow Episode 301, "Aruba-Con"

Legends of Tomorrow Aruba-Con

Fifteen minutes ago, Rip Hunter (ARTHUR DARVILL) left Sara Lance (CAITY LOTZ) in charge of the Waverider timeship and its crew, the Legends of Tomorrow.

Ten minutes ago, the Legends arrived in modern-day Los Angeles to dinosaurs and futuristic buildings, with Sara announcing, "I think we broke time."

Five minutes ago, a five-years-older Rip Hunter re-appeared to disband the Legends team, having used his intervening five years to establish a buttoned-up, by-the-book secret agency, the Time Bureau, who arrived with him to clean up the time anomalies and remove all memory of it from having occurred.

Catching Up: The Flash Episode 401, "The Flash Reborn"

Flash Episode 402, Flash Reborn

Six months ago, Barry Allen (GRANT GUSTIN) left the physical world in order to save it, allowing himself to be imprisoned by the mysterious Speed Force that fuels his powers as The Flash. Today, his friends continue to protect Central City as best they can, with Iris West (CANDICE PATTON) taking the lead of the team, tracking metahumans and sending out Cisco Ramon (CARLOS VALDES) and her brother Wally (KEIYNAN LONSDALE) as Vibe and Kid Flash, along with her father, Detective Joe West (JESSE L MARTIN) to do battle. The fourth season opener finds them with a better than Hall-of-Fame record, capturing two out of every three, and having just put the wraps on capturing (again) Peek-a-Boo (BRITNE OLDFORD). But that's not good enough for Iris, who is moving forward with her life with a cold determination that has accepted that Barry is gone forever.

Devil's Advocate: Lucifer, Episode 302, "The One With the Baby Carrot"

Lucifer 302 The One With The Baby Carrot

As Lucifer Morningstar (TOM ELLIS) continues his rant about the new villain in town stealing his schtick, the so-called Sinner Man, the LAPD gets pulled in on a homicide involving a second-rate comedian found murdered after publicly claiming another successful comedian had made a career on jokes stolen from him. Detective Decker (LAUREN GERMAN) tries to get Lucifer to focus on the case at hand rather than continue off on tangents about some mythical bogeyman, and warns him not to let their new boss, Lt. Marcus Pierce (TOM WELLING) hear him gon on about that or his 'devil nonsense' or he'll think Lucifer is nuts. At which point, of course, we ominously see that the good lieutenant is watching and listening from afar.

Catherine Tate joins cast of DuckTales...

WARNING!  THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS TO DUCKTALES EPISODE 4 - THE BEAGLE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE

So, in all the promotional material for the new DuckTales series, we never saw Magica De Spell.   It seemed like the writers were suggesting that we would not see Magica until season 2. I will admit, I was kind of disappointed.  Magica was always one of the best parts of the original DuckTales series and the comics.  \

As a result, I didn't see the plot twist at the end of Episode 4 coming...it was revealed that Webby's new friend, Lena, is Magica's niece and she was tasked by Aunt Magica with infiltrating the McDuck family.

Knight Moves: Gotham Episode 403, "They Who Hide Behind Masks"

Gotham 4.03 - They Who Hide Behind Masks

The fourth season of GOTHAM finds Bruce Wayne (DAVID MAZOUZ) finally taking up the notion of protecting the innocents on the street while wearing a mask and a suit. It's not the Batman costume yet, but it's a giant step in the right direction. And that's not the only disguise Bruce Wayne has been crafting. He's also been taking cues from Alfred (SEAN PERTWEE) on creating a mask out of Bruce Wayne as well, as he tries out the spoiled billionaire brat routine that eventually will become the billionaire playboy public persona.

Devil's Advocate: Lucifer, Episode 301, "They're Back, Aren't They?"

When we left Lucifer Morningstar (TOM ELLIS) at the end of Season 2 of LUCIFER, he awoke in the desert to find the wings he had cut off had been replaced. This, after he had been knocked out from behind  just as he was preparing to tell his partner, Detective Chloe Decker (LAUREN GERMAN) the truth about himself -- that he's literally the Devil of the Bible.

Which is funny, because Lucifer has never made any bones about who he is to anyone. That's the one thing interesting about his character: the "liar and the father of lies" tells nothing but the truth. It's a unique commentary on humanity from the writers that nobody ever believes he's precisely who he says he is. The only one -- the only human -- who knows for certain is his therapist, Dr. Linda Martin (RACHAEL HARRIS), who learned it last season when he revealed his true face to her.

Genesis: THE GIFTED 'eXposed' Bigotry Under the Guise of Mutants

At a time where the world is in a state of unrest due to things that make us different from one another, THE GIFTED brings these subjects to the forefront.

Some shows try to inject personal politics into the plot, but the X-Men has, and always will be, about equality. This isn't a political statement, this is a story about how being different comes with a social price tag.

Being a mutant is synonymous with being gay, transgender, muslim, black, or any other group that has ever felt oppressed because...they're different. But different from what?

Everything else.

It's probably not a coincidence that a suburban white family is used to be the gateway for viewers into the world of bigotry.

Superman and Social Justice Highlight Season 2 of Supergirl on Blu-Ray

The second season of SUPERGIRL put Superman back on the small screen, gave Alex and legit love interest, brought Winn to the DEO and intro'd two crossovers.

Packed full of action, romance, and comedy, season 2 of SUPERGIRL was a sophomore success!

The first two episodes see Tyler Hoechlin donning the 'S' as the television version of Superman. Many people loved his confidence and chemistry displayed on screen alongside Melissa Benoist. As a contrast to Henry Cavill's DCEU Superman, whose character is meant to be still finding his way, Hoechlin delivers an experienced hero who is not burdened with the cost of his actions.

Lethal Weapon Season One on Blu-ray

Roger Murtaugh was an aging cop looking forward to keeping a low profile in the last few years of his career before collecting his pension. He gets saddled with a new partner, Martin Riggs, who is suicidal after the loss of his wife, and takes death-risk chances that endanger not just himself but Murtaugh. It worked.
