Announced on Newsarama over the weekend:

Looks like someone at S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting a promotion.

Deadline is reporting that Adrianne Palicki, who has guest starred recently on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird), has been upped to series regular. Palicki debuted in the role in the second episode of the show's second season, and will be seen next in the mid-season premiere on March 3.

In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Palicki's character of Bobbi Morse was introduced as a HYDRA operative who had secretly been working as a double-agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. Morse's ex-husband, Lance Hunter, remains a HYDRA agent.

This is the latest in a long line of comic book adaptations and genre movies Palicki has been a part of. She's most well known for playing the title character in the canceled Wonder Woman pilot by David E. Kelley, and also starred as Nadia in the shelfed Aquaman pilot. In addition to that, she starred as Lady Jaye in G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Commentary: I grew up as a huge fan of Avengers West Coast, so I was real happy when they announced Bobbi Chase would be debuting on Agents of SHIELD. Adrianne Palicki is perfect in the role. Along with being drop dead gorgeous, she constantly looks like she can kick some serious ass. Season 2 of Agents of SHIELD has been great, and a big part of it has been the additions to the cast. I am really happy to hear that Palicki is now a series regular.

I will say I am still bummed out that we lost Agent Triplett in the mid-series finale, but this does go a long way to taking some of the sting out of that decision.

One last thing, in the original article on Newsarama, they said that Hunter works for Hydra.  I'm not sure if this was a mistake, or a huge spoiler that slipped on through.  I hope it was just a mistake.  Hunter has been a great character, and I really don't want to see him do evil like Agent Ward did in season 1.  Been there, done that!
